Dental Implants

Dental Implants at Essence Dental Clinic are an ideal solution for replacing missing teeth, bridges or dentures and the next best thing to natural teeth. Dental Implants are commonly, small titanium screws that are placed into the jawbone to create a permanent new root.

A natural tooth coloured crown is then placed over the Dental Implant. This new tooth can look, feel and perform just like a natural tooth. It is also possible to use multiple implants to support a denture or bridge.

What are the benefits of Implants?

Implants are more comfortable than conventional dentures because there is no slipping or movement. This eliminates some of the key worries of dentures and improves self confidence.

Dental implants are the alternative to bridgework for permanently replacing missing teeth, eliminating the need to grind down healthy teeth. When teeth are missing the surrounding bone begins to shrink. Dental implants can help maintain the shape and structure of the jaw bone.

What is involved in the implant process?

Stage 1: Initial Dental Implant Consultation

At this initial appointment we discuss your wish list and the benefits of dental implant treatment and considerations. Whether it is for restoring missing teeth/gaps, improving chewing, replacing dentures and failed bridges or preventing bone loss, dental implants usually are the best long-term option for these situations. We take necessary x-rays, impressions and other data required for diagnosis and treatment planning.

Stage 2: Diagnosis and treatment planning

At this appointment X-rays and other diagnostic information is discussed and a treatment plan is formulated, discussed and approved by you.

Stage 3: Diagnostic preview and surgical template

From the diagnostic information a surgical template is made for precise placement of dental implants in the mouth and a diagnostic preview of the final result is made and approved by you for a predictable and pleasing end result.

Stage 4: Dental Implant Placement

At this appointment we place your dental Implants and provide you with a temporary restoration based on the agreed diagnostic preview to restore your smile and and function whilst your dental implants are healing.

Stage 5: Final Restoration Fit

After the dental implants have healed (usually between 3 to 6 months after placement) the final implant supported restorations (crowns, bridges or dentures) are fitted and tweaked to your satisfaction.

Step 6: Review and celebration

At this appointment we review and verify that you are happy with your new smile and celebrate your renewed confidence with chewing and smiling.
