1) Nail biting

Afflicts children and nervous adults and can damage teeth and gums. Also pieces of nail can harm the lining of your stomach if swallowed.

2) Brushing your teeth too hard

A very common mistake which can harm tooth enamel and gums. Try to be more gentle and/or use a softer brush head.

3) Grinding teeth

An obvious one – damages tooth enamel. Usually stress related and can also cause headaches and sore jaws. Difficult to prevent when it occurs during sleep, but you could use a gum shield.

4) Snacking

Continuous snacking is bad for your teeth because they will be continually under attack by acids produced by the plaque in your mouth.

5) Chewing ice

We can’t understand why you’d want to do this but research shows that plenty of people do. It chips away at your tooth enamel and can damage gums. Stop it. Stop it now.

6) Skipping brushing your teeth

Not many people point this out but missing a brushing is very naughty indeed! Enough said, go brush now that you’ve been reminded 😉
