Our 5 Top Tips to keep your smile healthy and bright this Christmas.

Stick to your routine.

As a popular person no doubt you’ll be invited to many late night parties over the festive period. Brushing and flossing your teeth may not be top of your agenda when you roll in at 3am, but sticking to your normal routine will help prevent the excesses of Christmas from taking a toll on your teeth. And this advice extends to the kids too!

Buy/ask Santa for a toothbrush

Not as boring as it sounds this one. Electric toothbrushes are gadgety, fun to use and extremely effective.
Prices range from affordable stocking filler prices to main present budgets too.

Grazing is for reindeer, not people

We all know sugary snacks are bad for our teeth but actually it’s not so much the quantity, it’s the time we spend eating them. If you graze all day on mince pies, chocolate and biscuits then you’re feeding the bacteria in your mouth all day and they will produce enamel melting acid over that time.
Since this is a time for celebration though, we’d feel complete Scrooges if we were to tell you to abstain completely. So our suggestion would be to eat sweet foods with your meals so your teeth aren’t being bombarded all day.

Say (yes to) Cheese!

Nice cheeses are a traditional after dinner snack and this particular tradition is good for your teeth as cheeses help neutralise the acids produced after eating sugary food. Perfect whilst watching your favourite seasonal Wallace and Gromit film.

Chewing Gum

Chewing sugar free gum after eating is great for your teeth as it stimulates saliva production to counteract the teeth harming acids produced by sugary foods. As an added plus, if you chew a mint flavoured gum then you’ll always be minty fresh for that unexpected mistletoe moment…
